Caramel Sauce

There is NO comparison between this caramel sauce and the stuff you buy at the store…seriously!

I had a recipe for Caramel Chip Bars that called for caramels melted.
Since those have some questionable ingredients I found a homemade caramel recipe to try.

I wouldn’t consider this healthy by any means, but enjoy a little at a time!

You’ll want to keep this around for the holidays!


Caramel Sauce

1 cup brown sugar or sucanat
1/2 cup heavy cream
4 T butter
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
Place sugar, cream, butter, and salt in a small saucepan.
Place on medium heat and whisk 5-7 minutes or until it thickens and boils.
Add vanilla and stir for 1 more minute.
Remove from heat and use or refrigerate.
