Want something a little more flavorful than just your regular steamed green beans, but don’t want to spend extra time or calories on it? Try these.
Peppery Lemon Green Beans
2 cups green beans
1/4 cup onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced (or a 1/8 tsp garlic powder)
1-2 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp pepper
Sprinkle of salt (optional)
2 T. sliced almonds (optional)
Steam or boil green beans, onion, and garlic together until tender. Drain if needed. (If you are using garlic powder wait to add until after beans are cooked). Stir in lemon juice, pepper, and salt. Put into a serving bowl and sprinkle almonds on top.
Almonds can also be toasted if desired. Melt 1-2 teaspoons of butter in a skillet. Add almonds and sauté until lightly browned.
