Whole Wheat Sandwich Thins or Crescent Rolls

Ingredients
- ¾ cup butter
- 2 cups milk
- ½ cup honey (or real maple syrup)
- 6 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 T. yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Melt butter in saucepan over medium-low heat.
- Add milk and honey. Heat until warm, but not hot.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix flour, yeast, salt, and egg.
- Add milk mixture and stir until ingredients are combined.
- Cover bowl and place in fridge until completely chilled or overnight.
To make sandwich thins
- Let dough warm up for 10-15 minutes (to make it easier to roll out).
- Roll out dough on floured surface to about ½- ¾ inch thick.
- Cut into circles the size of your choice using a glass cup or small bowl.
- Place on greased cookie sheet.
- Let rise (or freeze) until double (about 1 hour).
- Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
To freeze these
- Place them on a cookie sheet until frozen then pop them off and put into a freezer bag.
- To bake from frozen -- place on a greased cookie sheet for 3-4 hours until they thaw and rise. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
To make crescent rolls
- Divide dough in half.
- Roll out one-half of the dough into a 12-15 inch circle.
- Cut into 12-16 pieces (depending on how big you want your rolls) with a pizza cutter.
- Place on greased cookie sheet.
- Let rise (or freeze) for an hour.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
To freeze these
- Place them on a cookie sheet until frozen.
- Pop them off and put into a freezer bag.
- To bake from frozen -- place on a greased cookie sheet for 3-4 hours until they thaw and rise. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
Notes
- This makes 24-32 rolls and about 12 sandwich thins.
