The Nourished Weight

A 9 week program focused on addressing the most common hormonal imbalances that make losing weight difficult — even when you’re doing everything right!

Your body isn’t broken – it’s looking for support!

Do you feel stuck and frustrated?

You’re doing everything right but the weight won’t budge.

Or the things that you used to do in the past to lose weight don’t work anymore.

These are signs that your body needs support.

As frustrating as it may be, hormone changes, inflammation, and chronic stress all change your metabolism. They make you hold on to weight (especially around the midsection) to protect you.

You don’t need to be so hard on yourself.

You just need a new approach!

Discover the bio-individuality of your metabolic health through continuous glucose monitors.

⇒ Hormones drive where you store fat and how you build muscle.

⇒ Stubborn weight is often a sign that your body is trying to protect you.

⇒ Work WITH your body to restore metabolic health

Nourish your body.

Balance your hormones.

Let go of the weight…for good!

Here’s what The Nourished Weight is about…

It’s NOT about…

× Willpower

× Just eating less or eating cleaner

× Cutting all carbs

× Pushing harder at the gym

× A one size fits all plan

× Guessing at what works for your body

× Complicated tracking

× Perfection

It IS about…

√  Balancing hormones

√  Understanding which carbs work for you

√  Eating enough

√  Working WITH your body

√  Being consistent

√  Calming the fight or flight response

√  Seeing results in real time

√  Peace of mind in adjusting to your unique needs

Lose weight by nourishing your body and addressing some of the most common underlying causes of weight loss resistance.

You don’t have to figure it out alone!

Not your typical weight loss program

This is not another eat less, cut carbs, and exercise more program.

It’s not just another plan to follow.

It IS understanding your body on a deeper level.

Discover your individual metabolic health through a continuous glucose monitor  (CGM).

A CGM is small sensor that you wear on the back of your arm.

It gives you 24/7 data on how food, sleep, stress, and exercise affect your glucose which is the main marker for the amount of insulin your body releases.

This is important because insulin is a fat storage hormone. So, if glucose is running high, insulin is also elevated and telling your body to store more fat.

The Nourished Weight program dives deep into blood sugar balance, insulin resistance, cortisol, and inflammation to give you personalized data and a clear plan to help reset your body naturally.

Is weight loss even possible for me?

Yes!

Weight is not just about calories.

While calories do matter, extreme dieting can actually cause more issues.

What you need instead is to help your body on a hormonal level.

Two of the most common issues I see for women are:

  1. underlying insulin resistance
  2. cortisol /HPA axis imbalances

These make it nearly impossible to lose weight even when you’re doing everything “right”.

1. Insulin resistance typically affects you for years (or even decades) before your fasting glucose (the lab commonly taken by your doctor) starts to rise. This is because your body works hard to keep blood glucose in range and can compensate by increasing your insulin.

This increase in insulin will keep your blood glucose in the normal range while also signaling your body to store more fat.

So, although your “labs look great”, you may still be having some symptoms (i.e. weight gain/struggle to lose) related to high insulin or insulin resistance.

If you are already seeing increases in your fasting glucose, then this has likely been going on for quite some time and your body is now struggling to keep up.

But don’t be discouraged!

You CAN reverse or at least greatly improve that resistance by some simple diet and lifestyle changes.

The Nourished Weight Program uses continuous glucose monitors to help you know exactly how to adjust your diet and lifestyle to address insulin resistance so you will be able to lose weight and keep it off easily!

2. Your HPA Axis (including cortisol) is your body’s built in stress response system.

When your body is in survival mode, it wants to hold on to weight – especially weight around your middle – no matter how clean you are eating!

Your HPA axis plays a critical role in blood sugar balance, fat storage, your metabolism, and even your hunger.

You are likely familiar with cortisol. It is the hormone that is released from your adrenals in response to stress.

Cortisol isn’t inherently bad.  It is your get-up-and-go hormone that should rise in the morning and be low at night so you can sleep well.

It helps you stay alert and respond to daily stressors. But when stress becomes chronic, cortisol:

  • disrupts your blood sugar – leading to insulin resistance, sugar cravings and poor energy
  • slows your metabolism
  • makes you store more fat (especially around the midsection)
  • breaks down muscle
  • increases ghrelin (your hunger hormone)
  • decreases leptin (the hormone that signals when you are full)

Your body prioritizes survival over fat burning.

All of these make it feel like you’re stuck and can’t lose weight, but you just need a different approach to restore your metabolism!

Keep it simple and sustainable – No dieting required!

In The Nourished Weight Program we’re keeping it simple and sustainable!

No dieting required.

No need to eliminate all carbs

You will learn exactly how to adjust your diet and lifestyle based on your individual response to foods!

The beauty of the CGMs is that they…

  • Provide flexibility and freedom – you don’t need to eliminate all carbs or fruit…we want your diet to be as varied as your body can handle!
  • Give clarity in understanding how your lifestyle and diet affect your glucose and hormones
  • Lead to confidence and consistency!
  • Are a great accountability tool – perfect if you struggle with consistency and behavior change!

When you see in real time how your food and lifestyle affect you, you naturally start to make better choices. That, along with our community, will help you see results and stay motivated!

We’ll obviously focus on real, whole foods with minimal junk, but it’s not about restricting all the foods you love.

It’s about understanding what works best for your body and finding the right balance that allows you to enjoy those foods and still lose weight.

Hello,  I’m Leslie!

As a functional dietitian, I’ve spent years working with people just like you who are frustrated with their weight. Even when “doing everything right”, their weight doesn’t seem to budge.

I know what it’s like to have “out-of-control” cravings even when I thought I was doing everything right. Or to struggle with low energy and so much guilt around eating. When I learned to balance my blood sugars, my whole mindset around food shifted. I knew how to eat to feel satified and to eliminate those cravings that I thought were just a lack of willpower.

As women age, hormones shift. The body changes. What used to work, doesn’t work anymore because they need a different approach. I love helping women understand their bodies on a deeper level so they feel empowered to take control of their health. Food and lifestyle are powerful tools that, when used right, help the body rebalance so it will feel free to let go of extra weight.

In my private practice I’ve seen so much success by focusing on the underlying causes of weight loss resistance: cortisol, insulin, thyroid, toxins, and inflammation!

I wanted to create a community to help women sift through the overwhelm of information and find the simple and sustainable ways that work for their unique bodies! So, I created The Nourished Weight Program!

FAQs

Yes! You will receive 4 sensors – each last about 10-15 days. You can pick them up at the office after you’ve signed up or I can ship them to you if you live out of town.

  • Plan on 10-20 minutes of exercise/ movement most days of the week
  • Workout plan and recommendations provided
  • 2-4 hours/week prepping food – I would assume you already spend time cooking some meals so this isn’t necessarily all extra time
  • 30 minutes/week for the coaching call (or replay)
  • 5-10 minutes/day to practice cortisol calming techniques

While we’re keeping the program simple and specific to your body, it still takes work to balance the body!

Yes! This program will help you understand how to eat and pair foods for blood sugar control which can help lower A1C!

Yes!

  • As estrogen decreases in perimenopause and menopause it signals your body to store more fat around the midsection, instead of butt and thighs. This internal visceral fat decreases sensitivity to insulin and increases inflammation– both of which make it difficult to lose weight
  • Plus we rely on our adrenals a lot in these stages of life which can make cortisol increase.
  • In this program we are addressing cortisol, insulin, and inflammation!

No, this program uses tracking and numbers via the CGM so it wouldn’t be a good fit.

You will be asked to “track” by writing a note in your CGM app so we can refer back to it to know how to adjust for better glucose control.

If you are concerned/don’t know if you aren’t in a calorie deficit, I’m happy to give you personalized calorie/macro goals that will fit with the program and help you be more successful!

I often see 4-11#/month when using continuous glucose monitors, but obviously can depend on other factors (calorie deficit, other hormones, stress etc.)
