Weight Loss Resistance

If you feel like you’re doing “everything right” but still struggle losing weight there may be a deeper reason. While a calorie deficit is needed to lose weight, it isn’t the only factor. To lose weight in a healthy manner and be able to keep it off easily you must work to balance your hormones, energy, and cravings.

Do any of these sound like you?

  • I’ve been trying to lose weight most of my life
  • I eat right and exercise consistently and still can’t lose weight
  • It’s easy for the weight to come right back on as soon as I lose it
  • I struggle with cravings and energy levels often
  • I’m not confident that what I’m doing will work for me
  • I struggle to stick with anything for more than a couple weeks because I’m always hungry, feel deprived, or have no energy
Managing weight can be extremely frustrating and discouraging when you think of your body is like a bank account (calories in vs calories out). Think of your body more like a chemistry lab…just because something doesn’t have calories doesn’t mean it doesn’t send signals throughout your body.

Common Causes of Weight Loss Resistance:

  • Food sensitivities
  • Low-grade chronic inflammation
  • Stress
  • Hormone imbalance (insulin, ghrelin, leptin, thyroid, cortisol…)
  • Inadequate sleep (which leads to hormone imbalance)
  • Inadequate or too much exercise
  • Leptin resistance (leptin is the hormone that decreases hunger and cravings, increases metabolism, and inhibits fats storage
If you’ve tried “everything” and still struggle with your weight it might be time to look into underlying issues.

Leslie is truly amazing. I decided to start working with her in an effort to learn how to feed MY body instead of listening to broad, general information. My family has a history of obesity and, for me, it was time to figure out what was going on and break the “cycle.” We tried several things at first with few results which resulted in me feeling that I just wasn’t being disciplined enough. Through it all, Leslie stayed positive and continued to offer options. After doing everything “right” for several weeks with no results, we finally decided to dig into my body chemistry thru a hormone and insulin tests and…VOILA!!! Answers!

Turns out that I was experiencing some insulin resistance and, although within what medical experts say is “normal,” it definitely wasn’t ideal. She suggested supplements and a specific diet and the weight started falling off! Before working with Leslie, I truly felt that everything was my fault; that I just wasn’t disciplined enough to lose the weight. I was honestly bordering on the line of depression because of it. Turns out, I was fighting a *severely* unfair battle! I cannot recommend Leslie and her services enough. She is patient, genuinely cares about the health and success of her clients, is motivated to find answers and her passion for her work is tangible. You are the best, Leslie!
